I am Lena, a freelance illustrator based in Bonn, Germany. My work aims to support good causes - by visualizing great ideas and making knowledge more accessible.
Embracing Multidisciplinarity
As an illustrator with a background in sociology, I often find myself working at the intersection of art and social issues. I am trained in social research methods such as surveys, observations, and interviews. After my academic focus on the future of work and creativity in organizations, I applied what I have learned to further innovation for sustainable development at the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Storytelling and Visual Communication
Stories have a way of staying in your mind - more so than information alone. This makes storytelling an essential tool for understanding the world around us. From cave painting to movies, visual communication is one of the most universal languages we share to tell those stories. This is why I use visual facilitation tools to understand complex issues, develop great ideas and inspire action.
Art is Teamwork
It's not just about the product, but the resonance we feel through connecting with others. As an illustrator I work closely with my clients and take on an active role in the conceptional process. As a creative workshop instructor, I encourage artists on all levels to (re)discover their creative joy, skill and voice.
